Marie D. Lewis
Marie D. Lewis is a professional corporate trainer and motivational speaker.
She has an Associates Degree in Apparel Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, a B. S. Degree in Marketing and Distributive Education from Virginia Commonwealth University, School of Education in Richmond, Virginia and a Master's Degree in Human Resource Development from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri.
She and her husband Ron are previous owners of McDonald's of Beaufort. Marie is also co-owner of the Sea Island Furniture Mart and executive director of the Sea Island Conference and Training Center. She was a consultant for Stein Mart of Beaufort and has conducted seminars and workshops in fashion, color, line and design, interior design, and all areas of management development for 25 years.
Some of Marie's accomplishments are dean of Continuing Education at Technical College of the Lowcountry, Beaufort from 1992-1999, owner/manager of Boutique Royale & Royal Fabrics Inc. in Englewood, New Jersey, and fashion designer of women's coordinates and children's clothing in New York City for 12 years.
Marie received the 1986 Kentucky Colonel Award, Black Achievers Award, Martin Luther King Humanitarian Award, Educator of the Year 1997-98, Outstanding Community Service Award June 2000, and Marie was honored as Career Woman of the Year 2000-2001. She has served in civic and religious/humanitarian activities such as CHUMS, INC. of which she is National President, Historic Beaufort Foundation Board, AAUW, Habitat for Humanity, YWCA, Salvation Army, Communities in Schools, SCETV, Beaufort Community Fund, First Steps, Greater Beaufort Chamber of Commerce, Beaufort County Black Chamber of Commerce, Penn Center Board of Directors, coordinated the Greater Beaufort County Chamber of Commerce Junior Leadership Program, served as president and vice president of the Northern Beaufort County Democratic Club. Marie is an active member of the Nu Delta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and The Lowcountry Ladies of South Carolina. She is a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and sings in the Gospel Choir.
